Jamie McLaughlin

Jamie McLaughlin recently founded J. H. McLaughlin & Co., LLC, a strategy and practice management consulting firm serving the wealth management industry and family offices. His clients include commercial banks, registered investment advisors, single family offices, and multi-family offices. He has over 20 years of experience in both senior operating roles and client-facing roles in the family office and ultra high net worth industry and a history of building organizations across a variety of private wealth management models. He has also worked directly with families across the country and has developed an extensive professional network that he can call on for complementary capabilities to serve his clients. Prior to founding J. H. McLaughlin & Co., Inc., he was CEO of Geller Family Office Services, a New York-based MFO. He spent the previous five years at Convergent Wealth Advisors (formerly Lydian Wealth Management) where he was a partner and built the firm’s New York office. Before that he spent 10 years at Mellon where he was the regional president of Mellon Private Wealth Management’s New York region. Mr. McLaughlin started in the wealth management industry as a financial advisor in the Private Client Group at Sanford C. Bernstein & Co., Inc. He serves on the Board of Trustees of the American Foundation for the Blind (AFB) and chairs the AFB’s investment committee. From 1981 to 1991 Mr. McLaughlin served in both the House and Senate of the Connecticut General Assembly. During his six year State Senate tenure, Mr. McLaughlin was the chairman and ranking member, respectively, of the General Assembly’s Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee and was a member of the State Bond Commission. In 1985, the Hartford Courant named him one of Connecticut’s “10 Best Legislators.” In 1990, he ran unsuccessfully for Congress in the 5th Congressional District of CT. Mr. McLaughlin received his Bachelor’s degree in History from Lafayette College and his Master’s in Public Administration from Harvard’s Kennedy School. He and his wife, Julie, and son, Austin (15), reside in Darien, CT.
